November 29 – December 4, 2021
Alfred Cooperative Institute for Art & Culture

Five days of investigations, exercises, short performances, and new Speech-Act combinations from previous projects by the Ensemble.

We would like to invite you to experiment with words in action – to open up a window to the power of words and their ability to conceal, govern, oppress – but also to clarify, juxtapose, set free, amuse, and even create the wonderous miracle of joint speech.

Together, we will open up Speechscapes, in which you will be able to listen and do things with words: wander around various short installations, join a reading circle or a speech chorus, and watch new combinations inspired by the ensemble’s previous works: A Story about a Place; A Community of Bastards; I am a Good Girl; Tell Me Something; Jackals and Arabs; An Old Piece of Paper; Dizengoff Center – 442 Stors; Excuse me, where’s Zionism?; and more.

The group is thrilled to host مخلّل – a piece by Siwar Awwad, and the performer Naomi Yoeli in the cussing corner.

We are very grateful to the Tel Aviv Municipality’s Cultural Arts Division for helping us open the Speech-Acts project to the public.
